Letterpress

  1. 01

With this printing technique we put color on the paper while we emboss it - so this happens at the same time!

  2. 02

We mostly use rough and quite soft natural papers, which are great for embossing, but absorb a lot of color. Thus bright colors probably won’t achieve the desired result. In addition the colors aren’t 100% opaque, so that the darker paper will shine through. White color on black paper will, for example, rather give an impression of a blue tint.

  3. 03

The machines we use are from the 1950s and 1960s and weren’t built for that kind of printing. The possibilities of printing full shapes are rather limited and although it works better with small shapes, be aware that the paper will shine through, resulting in a cloudy retro look, which is not always suitable.

  4. 04

Other than with digital or offset printing we only use hand mixed colors of the uncoated Pantone swatch. Our machines only have one color deck, which means each color has to be printed in a seperate run. Therefore we need the number of colors for calculating the price.

  5. 05

As every color needs to be printed seperately, we can’t print 4c photos. Printing halftone photos is generally possible, though it depends on how detailed the pictures are. Shades also need to be deliverd as halftone graphics, but we suggest printing them as a seperate color. We can’t offer to print gradients, as the machines have a rather small color deck where the colors simply mix up too fast.

  6. 06

Each color is hand mixed and matched to the Pantone Uncoated swatch book, as most of the papers we use are uncoated too.

  7. 07

As we prefer to print on uncoated papers, we don’t get glossy impressions. If you stick to printing colors we can give it a little shine with our metallic colors, but the best thing to get a glossy impression is using hot foils.

  8. 08

A blind embossing is an embossing without color. Like that you can create subtile structures which are the result of light and shade. For some designs we recommend to use some transparent color to increase the contrast of your blind embossing!

  9. 09

We print on materials that no digital or offset machine would take, still paper and materials shouldn’t be thicker than 3mm. Anyway we’re open for experiments - if you have any thicker material, get in touch with us and we’ll see!

  10. 10

We prefer uncoated, rough and soft papers with a high cotton or bamboo percentage. Besides we’re adventurous and also like to print on leather and wood.

  11. 11

The maximum paper size for the Heidelberg Tiegel is 25 x 35 cm. The maximum printing area is 22 x 32 cm.

  12. 12

You’re invited to attend the press check of your project. Together we can agree on intensity of the impression and adjust the color tone before we hit the run.

Hot foil stamping

  1. 01

While with letterpress you can go quite deep into the paper, embossings with hotfoil are also possible, but not as deep as with color.

  2. 02

We get the best results from 6,5 pt font size, though this also depends on the font type. If you’re not sure, just send your design and we’ll have a look at it!

  3. 03

Metallic foils offer a metallic and glossy impression and are easier to handle. Pigmented foils on the other hand are of a flat appearance and won’t release as easy as metallic foils, especially when it comes to small designs.

  4. 04

Unfortunately we’re limited to the colors of the producers - the palette is quite extensive, but it is not possible to get every Pantone color as a foil.

Processing and finishing

  1. 01

At the Inifinitive Factory we have mere possibilities to proceed with your printed pieces - custom made forms for die cutting, creasing and folding and also color edging and hot foil edges!

  2. 02

The thicker the paper, the better the effect. Anyway color edging is also possible with 300g papers.

  3. 03

We can color any edge that isn’t die cut - so business cards, notebooks, books, postcards invitations etc.

  4. 04

This is unfortunately not possible, as die cut edges do not have the right surface to be colored.

  5. 05

We also offer products with foiled edges in the colors of the available foils. As this service is not operated in house, please check back on delivery times before you place your order.
